Installation: the instructions are not the greatest, but they get the job done. The attachments are universal in nature. You basically have a channel to slide the heads of your bolts into and then a metal plate that can go around your rack. The channels attach to the bottom of the structure (metal plate). It is a rugged attachment system. I put on well over 3,000 miles on its first journey and I had no troubles with the attachment to the rack.
When buying a rack, get one that sits up high enough for your vehicle so that you can get the metal rods installed (see setup below). These rods go into the base plate of the tent at a roughly 45 degree angle. so the tent needs to be situated behind the cab - if installed onto a pickup - so that these rods can be inserted and attached to the awnings.
IF you wanted to put it close to the cab, you could use ropes to tie down the awning facing the front of the vehicle rather than the steel rods - that would be an option I believe.
Setup - very straightforward. uncover, undo the Velcro (4 spots), lengthen the ladder, and unfold. After the unfolding, adjust the length of the ladder. When shortening the ladder slightly, it is the top steps that need to be released in order to shorten the length - not the bottom steps. Once you have worked with it you will understand. There are some metal rods (instructions for me said two sizes, but there was only one size) that need to be inserted at an angle into the bottom support plate of the tent.
These rods attach to the awnings and flaps. A very novel idea. The rods are metal and flex - but don't bend. So they put constant tension onto the awnings, etc. to keep them in place. Make sure not to bend the rods as they will not work as well after being bent.
Taking tent down - one person can do it. It will take a couple of times to figure out what is best for you and your setup to cleanly get it down and all tent material stuffed into the package. The last photo I included shows that when it is about half way up, i prop it is place so that I can go around and push the tent flaps inside. This makes it easier for the cover to be put on.
I put the straps that are close to the ladder UNDER the cover. I am not sure how they are supposed to be installed, but I found that it worked better for me to put them under the cover. This allows you to put all four velcro straps on before the cover is installed.
I left the metal rods inside the tent when folded over. they are small and do not get in the way. I believe the manual said you could leave some things in the tent, but I found leaving items in there made it tough to get the tented folded in half and the cover to fit on nicely.
For the cover, I recommend starting at the front and then working back. You want the velcro to be attached firmly there - and not allow wind to get under it. Then work your way to the back.
Great tent - rugged, easy to setup.

I will say that when I first got it and installed on my truck the first thing the happened while I lightly grabbed the material to open awning was the material just basicly fell off of the tent. The edging was not sewn onto the tent material but by a tiny amount which let it to just pull off. See pics.
I reached out to company and it was not to much help except send the whole thing back. Which I did not want to do thats a huge hassle. I probably should have... I thought maybe I could get a replacement cover sent but noting was offered. At one point I stopped getting any responses to my updates so the 5 year warranty seems like it may be a huge hassle if it really ever needed to be used. My wife and I ended up re sewing the entire run about 5' and other areas to fix it which was quite frustrating while on the vehicle.
Tent had a ton of aluminum shavings inside of it. This caused the the tent to get poked by them. I had to take it apart and vacuum it out to minimize damage. The mattress claims 3 inch but its really maybe 2.5 but does provide decent support. I ended up buying a 1 inch king size foam topper and cutting it to size and installing it inside of the mattress cover there was plenty of room to fit.
The accessories that come with it are a huge plus. Along with the light inside, the pillows though are no good for us they are so stiff and not tall enough.
Going back this tent took a little time to ship if I would have waited. I would of purchased a hard shell tent from them or someone else. But... they were not avaliable at that time. Recovering the tent with cover or opening it with velcro all around is a huge pain in the butt a zipper would be better. I know this seems like alot of issues and for the cost it should be better at least in my opinion. Maybe I just got a rushed one and a quality slipped. Other then those issues the tent has worked good for us and our camping trips.
