This product does everything I need it to do and more. If you have moisture build-up it’s going to cause a leak. This device can find moisture in the walls because, moisture holds on to heat longer and will show up along the electromagnetic spectrum (actual radiated heat!) at a different surface temp than the drier portions of wall/ceiling around it.
The Pro version comes with a thermal sensor and a camera that simultaneously takes a photo of the visible light and then processes both thermal and image together making it (not technically, but functionally)
1. High resolution (for at least 3m from what I’ve gathered so far)
2. For the distance (at least 3m I’ve tested), it’s pretty much Hyper-spectral! Because of the spectral range comparing temperature variations.
It’s a heat map. Everyone loves heat maps.
The only thing better than this would be to Buy the FLIR Drone! Because why not? I don’t have the money, or I would have.
NOTE: I did receive a used device. There were pictures loaded from April 2020. So it must have been a returned item. There was nothing wrong with the item, and I kept it. It is an expensive product, for what it is. Although extremely cool and valuable at times, it makes life easier, it’s limited to vague diagnosis. It’s never happened before through Amazon. So I thought I should mention it here.

My primary application is for assessing medium-sized electronics. The Seek represents a great value with high thermal resolution and captures relatively crisp thermal-domain images, but the app is of limited functionality and awful support. It's been a great tool but desperately needs updating. I keep an old Pixel phone only so that I can continue using the Seek.
The handheld FLIR E5-XT was a decent camera, but was very expensive and offered limited functionality. Images were inferior to the inexpensive Seek. I don't think it could capture video. It came with a nice case and seemed to be a durable unit.
The TG 165 was marginally more than a toy. The camera offered shockingly little in terms of functionality. No custom scaling could be applied to the images, and the single indicated measured temperature was not aligned with the image, making it basically useless for anything other than finding massive air leaks in residential applications.
The FLIR One Pro has been the best of all of these, independent of price. I bought an iPod Touch to dedicate to the thermal camera. The accuracy of the temperature values are not great and they do shift around during use - 5 to 10C of error between 0 and 100C is typical. This isn’t a deal breaker for me; if I need a precise reference, I can keep ice water or boiling water in the frame. The app has a fantastic amount of functionality, permitting the use of multiple manual measurement points, manual temperature range scaling, and selective use of the optical and thermal cameras. It’s great for transient measurements and has been an indispensable tool for my applications.
