S90 180The S90 has been a wildly popular mouthpiece among classical players since its introduction. Known for having an ideal balance between a direct, homogeneous sound and a supple flexibility, the S90 is extremely stabile in the upper ranges of the saxophone. |
ConceptThe Concept represents the next big leap in mouthpiece evolution and is truly a model of the highest acoustic precision! It features not only an innovative look but a refined design that produces a heretofore unheard of richness of sound and consistency in all ranges. |
Claude DeLangleDesigned in close collaboration with Claude Delangle, H Selmer Paris has pioneered a unique, bi-material mouthpiece that features a special acoustic all its own. Based on the earliest designs of Adolfe Sax himself combined with cutting edge technological manufacturing processes, the gold-plated metal ring lines the entire bore and allows for a denser, fuller sound with increased projection. |

History of Henri Selmer Pairs
|
|
|
|
---|---|---|---|
In 1885 following graduation from the Conservatoire de Paris, Henri Selmer began making reeds, mouthpieces, and clarinets in Paris. |
In 1898, Henri’s brother, Alexandre left for the US and began selling clarinets as he toured with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. These instruments would gain in popularity in Europe and America, winning awards at the 1900 Paris Exhibition and in 1904 St Louis World’s Fair. In 1905, Henri took over the Barbier Company, a flute maker in Paris. |
In 1922, Selmer introduced its first saxophones under the name “Series 22”. In 1936, Selmer Paris truly established its’ position as the leader in saxophone design with the Balanced Action. The subsequent Super Action saxophones would follow leading up to the introduction of the Mark VI in 1954. |
Today, Henri Selmer Paris is a leading manufacturer and the choice instrument of clarinet and saxophone professionals (Charlie Parker shown above) around the world. The instruments continue to be hand-crafted in Paris with the fourth generation of Selmer family members leading the company. |

Fast forward six months later and he is still loving this mouthpiece and made both the competitive jazz band and top concert band at his middle school. Mouthpiece shows no signs of wear and tear and seems like it will last a long time even though he plays at least 5 days a week. Great product, I am very happy with this purchase.

If you are looking from an “upgrade” of your Yamaha 4c then this mouthpiece is for you it will offer you the tool necessary to adequately be able to practice your long tones takes about 6 months of 5 min long tone warmups. as this mouthpiece was also a MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT FOR ME. Note after a certain threshold of proper gear playing an instrument is pure skill. PRACTICE YOUR LONG TONES WITH DYNAMICS AT 60 BPM SLOW AND STEADY BREATH FROM YOUR STOMACH.
If you are an experienced player. You should then buy this mouthpiece because you like the sound of it. Generally there isn’t much of a difference when your already using a good mouthpiece.
I use this mouthpiece with a reed strength of a 3.5 a stronger reed will get you a fuller sound because it includes those lower frequencies.
Overall a strong buy if you want a reliable mouthpiece that will improve your tone. otherwise it’s still good if that’s the sound you’re looking for.
