Additionally, the VINTAGE V5 INFINIUM features an integrated high-definition Reverb; a built-in 2-way Power Attenuator, so you can achieve the ultimate sound at any volume – and an extremely versatile Vintage Equalizer with Tone control for sculpting the sound of your dreams. Enhancing the flexibility of this do-it-all combo, our revolutionary INFINIUM Tube Life Multiplier Technology makes tube replacement incredibly simple – so you can spend more time playing your music. |
Classic All-Tube DesignThe VINTAGE V5 INFINIUM features true Class-A technology with a 12AX7 front-end and an EL84 power stage. A masterfully crafted all-tube combo amplifier, the V5 provides sweetly-balanced harmonics and natural tube compression, resulting in the warm distortion and break-up you’ve come to appreciate from those vintage megaliths of yesteryear – only in a much more portable and attractive package. The hand-selected 12AX7 preamp tube in V5’s classic ‘60s-era preamp provides everything from sweetly-purring blues to mind - blowing crunch. Often employed in British-style amplifiers, the EL84 output tube is known for its crisp and chiming tonal quality when pushed to the max, and the V5 harnesses that power via the built-in power attenuator – for the ultimate guitar tone at any volume level. |
High-Definition ReverbAdding to its impressive list of tone-shaping options, the VINTAGE V5’s high-definition Reverb puts the perfect finishing touch to your signature sound. Adjustable via the dedicated control on the front panel, you can finally achieve any sound you desire – from a subtle touch to the cavernous, natural-sounding reverberation of a large arena. |
INFINIUM Tube Life Multiplier TechnologyYears in the making, our INFINIUM Tube Life Multiplier Technology can extend the usable lifespan of your amplifier’s expensive power valves by up to 20 times, saving you huge money and ensuring the integrity of your tone. How? This revolutionary circuit automatically and continuously monitors the performance of each output tube, and dynamically drives it towards the target operating point, for an evenly distributed load. INFINIUM also compensates for the effects of aging, automatically adjusting current levels to keep your tubes sounding as good as new – even when AC line voltages drop below nominal levels. Similar technology has been used for decades in all-wheel drive cars, where systems modulate the power going to each wheel to improve traction. Just consider INFINIUM Series amps “4-wheel drive” for your guitar. |

I've been using it mostly in 1 watt mode because on 5 watts it's still a little too loud for my situation. The 0.1 watt mode sounds a little muddy and not quite as good as the 1 watt, at least to my tired old ears. I swapped out the factory tubes for the JJ's and wound up putting the stock tubes back in because it sounded good as it was. I'll keep the JJ's for backups. The JJ's seemed to be a little hotter than the factory tubes and I'm running it at just barely breaking up with the pedals pushing the preamp tubes to make it sound nice, warm and fat. I've never had an amp with EL84's in it and have to say it does sound pretty good. The Turbosound speaker sounds really nice, too, although I saw a lot of people complaining about it. I have no current plans to replace it, myself. In 5 watt mode this little beast can get loud, especially if you have neighbors.
I've noticed no rattling or hum at all, even cranked. I did go through and check all the screws and connections when I first got it to make sure nothing worked loose in transit. The construction on it seems to be first rate, as well. My only real complaint is that it has no standby switch, just an off/on switch., so it takes a little while to warm up when you first turn it on. A minor point, but I've always had a power AND standby switch on every tube amp I've ever owned and it's taking a little getting used to. With the appropriate pedals this little amp will do any genre you might want to explore. Alone, it's mostly good for blues and classic rock tones. It take pedals extremely well and haven't found a pedal yet that it doesn't like. The built in digital reverb is not too shabby in itself, though I don't use it with my pedals.
I've tried it out with all of my guitars now and it sounds amazing with all of them, from vintage single coils to hot humbuckers to Filtertrons and P-90's. I'm definitely pleased with this mighty little Bugera amp and am now considering getting one of the larger ones as well. Overall, dollar for dollar, this is probably the best deal I've ever gotten on a true tube amp. I'd recommend it highly.
