Can Napier Truck Tents be used with a tonneau cover?
Yes, certain types. Retractable covers are compatible. Folding and hinged covers are not and will need to be removed. Roll-up covers less than 6" high are compatible if tent is placed over the cover, if more than 6" we suggest to remove the cover.
Can you fit the tent over a truck bed toolbox?
Yes. Place tent over toolbox to minimize amount of water that could enter between the box and the tent. We recommend covering corners of toolbox to protect tent from ripping on sharp edges. You will lose the amount of space that the toolbox occupies.
Will the tent work if my truck has a camper shell/cap on it?
No. Truck tents will not work if a camper shell/cap is assembled. Napier SUV Tents are the best option as long as the height from the ground to the highest point of the shell window/door does not exceed 80".
Can I drive with the tent set-up in the bed of the truck?
No. Driving with the tent mounted to your vehicle may cause personal injury and/or damage to your tent and truck.
Can one person set-up a Napier Truck Tent by themselves? How long will it take?
Yes. One person can, however we recommend having assistance during first set-up. First set-up should take approx. 15 minutes and about 10 minutes each time thereafter. Each tent includes set-up instructions and color-coded poles for easy assembly.

I bought this model because it was easily advertised for truck cabin access window and that worked out well for grabbing things from the truck while trying to go to bed or keeping your dogs in the cabin comfortably so they can hear your voice and not bug you. Also you can bring phone chargers through. Nice feature
The rain cover works really well. The build quality is really good, the poles are good enough ( just follow instructions. It says not to pull the poles through the slips, DONT DO IT, just take your time pushing them through and jimmy the slip over)
The room is like having a suite instead of a generic hotel room. It fit two adult males cooomfotably. It slept two parents and a 5 year old Cooomfortably.
Half of the comfort came from Using Airbeds truck bed mattress. It fits over the wheel wells with padding so you can sleep over the wheel well too. Some of the best sleep I ever had. My buddy thought so too.
I would buy it again. Glad to have this

Observations
1. A large, strong tent floor. Regardless, a hole in a tent floor is not helpful so we use a heavy tarp between the truck back floor and the tent floor to prevent friction tears. The waterproof floor extends above the wheel wells and over the tailgate...good.
2. Taped seams. Excellent.
3. A window that completely unzips against the back cab window so we can access our young daughter who sleeps in the back seat of the truck. We can also access the plug for hubby's CPAP or our fan, then zip it almost closed. Btw...the zipper is repositionable to wherever you want to leave a tiny hole for the cord to pass through. My daughter and I don't have to fight power cords draped in our bed.
4. There is room at the end of the bed to sit and put on shoes, etc without having to hang over the tailgate. I bought and am using a thick bathroom rug to place at the foot of the bed and the end of the tent. Keeps the tent clean, prevents "hot butt" from sitting directly on the metal tailgate, and, again, protects the tent floor. It's easy to shake out and keeps dirt out of the bed and tent. The rug size that fits perfectly is 2 ft x 4 ft.
5. Many windows and vents. The side windows are large but stationary - no zippers on the mesh. However, the tent cover on the side windows does have a side to side crescent zipper as well as a center zipper for many configurations of ventilation. The mesh windows on the front and back do open completely and can be operated from both inside and outside the tent. Ie: you can open the front tent window from inside your cab. The zippers are average tent zippers. They will continue to remain the weakest part of the tent...regardless of the support poles.
6. The poles are many and as stated before by others, long. They barely fit. They are very thin and flexible. There is a trick to getting them up. Insert them in the sleeves in the order as directed by the instructions, then go back and slip them in the pockets or grommet. Be careful.
7. Our larger awning poles were barely long enough...barely. But the awning is one main reason for shelling out the money for this particular tent. It keeps mild rain out of the tent.
8. The fly. A tent fly only works where it overhangs the tent but doesn't touch the tent. This mostly does that. The sides of the fly aren't long enough to over hang the sides of the truck or taut enough to not sag and touch. We will insert foam chocks under the side windows between the outside of the tent but under the fly. We have them on hand for carrying our canoe. That pushes the tent in slightly, holds the sides of the fly out enough to direct drips to the outside of the truck and increase air circulation in the tent during rain storms. One side note, the fly cover over the front window has a zipper so you can still access the cab.
We used this while traveling. It is a pain to totally set up and take down each night. We learned to pull the poles from the pockets, fold up a section on either end of every pole and just collapse it in place. We bought and installed a soft, rollable tonneau cover. It IS compatible with this exact set up.
This is a sturdy, well made tent that works well for this purpose. A truck camper top would be easier in most cases. They are in very short supply currently and quite a bit more expensive. This tent suits for now. There was a lot of thought put onto creating this particular tent. It's worth the extra bit of money. No, we don't work for this company nor get kickbacks. I'm just addressing the questions I wanted to know before I took the plunge for this more expensive tent. Enjoy!
Its fairly straight forward and easy to set up as the poles and slots are color coated. There is a TON of ventilation once all the flaps are opened.
Additionally, my truck has a half depth tool box that I didn't have when I used the previous tent.
The tent with the tool box will sit almost flush with the end of the tailgate. The toolbox provides a shelf inside the tent making for a convenient place to store anything.
The Carabiner inside the tent is also very hand! I have a small LED light/bug zapper that hooked right on.
The tent and bed (crew cab, regular bed, 2500) also fit a queen sized air mattress perfectly.
Overall this is definitely worth the investment for having a nice place to camp.
The awning is also a nice touch, although I wish it was easier to roll up as it was a little confusing to set up at night.
