I knocked the wood out just a little so the Coppercoat could get behind it, and I soaked the grade beams with 6 very wet coats, using a garden sprayer to get behind the board where they meet the posts. They literally look identical to the pressure treated posts, same color, same smell.
A gallon went way further than I thought it would, so having an extra gallon, I went ahead and coated the pressure treated posts too. Can't have too much protection! I even poured some at the base of the posts where they're concreted in. I'm now not worried at all, I feel like they are better protected than I would have gotten from the lumber yard.
At the end of the day, there's two chemicals that protect your wood. Copper to protect from rot (alkaline copper quaternary (ACQ), copper azole (CA) or micronized copper azole (MCA)). And arsenic to protect from insect damage. As far as I'm concerned, this product if applied in several heavy coats can serve my treated wood needs...

Product itself I like, easy to apply, hopefully it will help preserve my wood deck.
The product has a very thin, oil-like consistency that goes on easily with a brush, and soaks into the wood grain, leaving a green tone (label states that the green color will fade). It will run if applied too heavily, or not brushed in. The instructions state that spraying is not advised. The product does have a very strong odor and should only be used outdoors.
sometime if it really works. The product came poorly packaged and was leaking when I got it. It smells horrible and
it got on my rug and stained the rug which I had to throw out.
