The answer is plenty! The one in my RV had sticky contacts. What I mean is the electrical contacts seemed to stick together. That resulted in a terrible problem, which the digital thermostat has solved completely. The problem was the temperature would have to drop way below the setpoint to get the furnace to turn on. Then, when on, the temperature would have to rise way above the setpoint before the furnace would turn off. This was awful. In a small RV there was no consistency in the temperature at all. It would swing widely above and below the desired setting. Plus the temperature control only had two options, ie warmer or cooler -- no actual temperature selection.
This digital thermostat is absolutely one of the best upgrades I have ever done to my RV. I can select whatever temperature I want and the thermostat will control the furnace precisely. The variance is only plus or minus about 1 degree. I am thrilled with this precise control. This is saving propane, which saves me money. Plus, I love the backlight. Now I can see the temperature and the setpoint even in the middle of the night.
This digital thermostat runs on two AAA batteries. I put Energizer Ultimate Lithiums in it. Those should last 2-5 years before needing replacement, they never corrode, and they are imperviousness to temperature variations.
This inexpensive digital thermostat is an excellent upgrade for an RV and it has changed my opinion of digital thermostats in general. I strongly recommend this, especially if you have an old analogue thermostat in your RV.
I was bummed at first the back light didn’t work just like many reviews. Most review showed back light working so I took a chance. You would think it would be set to on as default setting. That’s why I give it 4 stars.
I seen some reviews saying the lcd screen back light doesn’t work. Mine at first did not but that’s why they include instructions 🤔. All you have to do is read them 😂. All you have to do is turn the heat switch to heat. Hold up and down button for a few seconds. Then use up or down button to switch to on. Boom back light works. People need to read instructions instead of leaving bad reviews 😳.

The bimetal Honeywell was allowing a temperature variation of as much as 6 degrees between cycles and was causing a stuttering of the burner during the cycle (obviously very bad for the furnace!). I've had the Emerson in place for about three weeks now, and it has worked flawlessly from the start. The temperature variation is now about 3 degrees as measured by an independent thermometer placed in the center of the room. I would call that very good considering the size of the room. The burner runs smoothly throughout the cycle as well.
Now for the installation issues that other people have addressed. My install is a simple two-wire (red and white) single-stage, heat only application, so I just followed the RH and W markings on the thermostat. Here's the catch: the Honeywell controller on the furnace does not indicate which of the two thermostat terminals is red or white. Well, you say, it's just a "temperature-controlled switch", so what difference does it make? But it does! If you look at a circuit diagram of the typical controller, one screw is connected to the center tap of the transformer (neutral or white), and the other (positive or red) is in circuit with the burner feed. Why the controllers aren't marked this way, I don't know, and until I ran into problems with the bimetal thermostat's operation, I was unaware of the issue as well. The thermostat connections are marked to show polarization, so it must make a difference, and it certainly did in my application.
Obviously, if you're system is different from mine you may have to look deeper into the installation procedure, but for a simple, non-programmable heat-only thermostat that has digital accuracy, I would highly recommend this Emerson.

I love that it shows the temperature in Farenheit. I can see it so easily, thanks to the backlight function (which you have to turn on - thank you to the Amazon customers who gave simple instructions on how to do that!), the display uses large figures, very nice, so easy to install I did it myself, and accurate! I love the accuracy! When the first one had been installed, I had been using a dial thermostat for over 40 years. I was surprised any thermostat could be so accurate. Is it any wonder I went in search of the exact same model?

Easy to install. Luckily I had the old one always installed, so even if the manual was for another model, it was ok.
