Everything seems to work great except the whistle.
3 Stars
Everything seems to work great except the whistle.
The thermometer, compass, and ferrocerium rod all seem to work great. As many other reviewers have said, the whistle is not very loud. I now have 2 of these and can confirm the whistle acts the same in both, which is a shame since the whistle resonance chamber sticks out the side some (see side view photo). The audio frequency is almost the same as in a nice titanium whistle I have, but the volume isn't nearly as loud unless you blow very hard, and then the pitch shifts to "dog-whistle" mode and I can't hear it very well. Maybe your German Shepherd hiking partner could though - I really don't know.
