About this item
- REDUCES SAG UNDER LOAD -- Ideal for occasionally hauling or towing varying loads; heavy gauge, calibrated coil spring reduces sag when loaded up to 1,200 lbs. (capacity limited by suspension, tires and transmission; see owner's manual)
- EXCEPTIONAL HANDLING -- Tuned specifically for each application, full-displaced valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide ride consistency
- CONSISTENT RIDE -- OE all-weather fluid contains special modifiers to handle extreme temperatures and PTFE-banded piston helps reduce friction between the piston and pressure tube to enhance responsiveness to changing road surfaces
- LONGER SERVICE LIFE -- Self-lubricating fluid seal retains gas and reduces excessive friction against the piston rod to help reduce premature wear while heavy-duty nitrocarburized rod delivers long life
- IMPROVES PERFORMANCE -- Nitrogen gas-charge maintains tire-to-road contact for improved ride and handling by reducing aeration and shock fade

MONROE LOAD ADJUSTING SHOCK ABSORBERS
Ideal for light trucks that that tow or carry varying loads, Monroe load adjusting shock absorbers include a heavy gauge calibrated spring that adjusts to road and weight conditions to provide extra control when operating conditions get more demanding.
Hardworking vehicles that tow trailers or carry varying loads can count on Monroe load adjusting shocks to reduce sag when under load. Not just for ride comfort, shocks are necessary for the safe handling of your vehicle. By maintaining vertical loads placed up on the tires, shocks help ensure consistent tire-to-road contact. Shocks also help maintain a balanced ride by providing resistance to vehicle bounce, roll and sway as well as brake dive and acceleration squat.

CAUSES & CONSEQUENCES OF SHOCK FAILURELike many parts on your vehicle, shocks are subject to wear. Causes include damaged bushings, exposure to the elements, loss of oil viscosity and deteriorated components. Driving with worn shocks can result in problems ranging from reduced braking efficiency, tire wear, loss of stability and damage to other suspension parts. |
IMPORTANCE OF MAINTAINING RIDE HEIGHTProper ride height is crucial to vehicle durability, performance and safety. When inspecting a vehicle, don’t just check the static ride height. The dynamic ride height –the ride height of a vehicle in motion –may tell a different story. The cause of dynamic ride height issues is often worn or damaged coil or air springs, depending on the vehicle suspension. Don’t just replace the shock –be sure to also inspect for and replace worn coil/air springs. |
IMPORTANCE OF ALIGNMENTAlways perform an alignment whenever replacement shocks, struts or other ride control parts are installed. Camber, toe and caster settings can all be affected by installing new shocks. Failure to make sure the vehicle’s alignment is within factory specifications can lead to problems like premature tire wear. |
HOW TO CONDUCT A SHOCK INSPECTIONShocks may not show any visible signs of wear, make sure to request a ride control inspection every time your vehicle is brought in for service to ensure they’re in optimal operating condition. When inspecting a vehicle’s shocks: assess how the vehicle is used and perform ride and physical evaluations. Get an understanding of the vehicle’s repair history, the way the vehicle handles and its intended use for clues if the shocks might need changing. Next, take the vehicle for a test drive to determine whether the vehicle’s steering, stopping and stability are compromised. Wrap up the inspection with a physical examination for symptoms of wear which may indicate new shocks are required. |
