I have a 5.1.2 system but will probably upgrade to a 5.1.4 (4 Atmos speakers: 2 in-front and 2 behind shooting upwards) I had a previous Atmos speaker and upgraded to the Klipsch model, since I have all Klipsch speakers. (That way I can have matching speakers and timber matched) You can still add them to any other set-ups, it was my personal preference. The first thing I noticed was that the speaker sitting on top of front towers, didn't push themselves back like my older ones. Since this design shoots up to bounce from the ceiling, it doesnt shimmy backwards at higher volumes. Stays perfectly in place. I purchased this on January 2nd and now ( Feb 14th) making the review and has not moved an inch.
1. You can hear the added dimension.
2. Clear sounding and the spread effect is pronounced.
3. Effect can be hear if you have the proper room layout and not to far away from sitting position.
4. They can be used as height speakers OR Dolby Atmos set-up.
I wanted to address something first. Auto calibration systems in receivers can be off (most are not perfect and sounds does reflects throwing the auto-calibrating system off) its recommended for you to adjust based on how everything sounds in the room to your own preference. What I do is auto calibrate first for distance, if distance comes out correct than adjust the "gains" in the receiver settings (the volume each speakers) Some systems put the volume lower, which makes it harder for sound to reach the ear. Most room set-ups use a microphone and the mic might be overly sensitive and set the gains (volume) lower.
If you hear the effect or the extra layer of sound, you're done.
You may want to increase it higher in case the receiver sets the volume lower. Just take into account Atmos is an extra layer of sound, its meant to be atmospheric, with the occasional raining down effect of a film combined with back and front speakers creating a sound bubble. The extra layer of sound can be hear by simply switching 5.1 and back to 5.1.2 in the receiver in a film that supports it. Sometimes things are recorded as objects. Its not all a rain down effect.
Most, if not all 4k films are remixed in Atmos or DTS X, with some blue-rays non 4k films having it included (Most the times its the standard audio set up for 7 speakers) but receivers that support Atmos and DTS X have an up-converter, which simulates the effect and can be heard, just remember that films encoded for it obviously sound better.
5.1 sound an higher will still be up converted in the receiver, even if the sound playing lacks the Atmos or DTS X encoding. All my games and older films have an extra layer of sound, filling the room that even my own father noticed it was crystal clear (from the smallest bullet, to the effects or basic front sounds).
What I would recommend, play the test tone in the receiver after the auto-calibration. Some default to higher sounds pitch, others, you can increase the volume to what you normally set it to, as the test tone plays adjust + or - of the individual speaker. Increase or lower based off your own personal preference, but allow it to match the other speakers test tone pitch. Don't over drive it. Some prefer a slightly higher pitch for Atmos speakers. In my set up, its increased to +3 vs +1. Even in audio forums some suggested to set it higher 2-3 from the default set up. Remember, if the default sounds fine, than you're done. But never hurts to tinker with it.
Take into consideration that the Atmos speakers are not always 100% on, it's based off how the film was recorded. When I use the basic up-converter on the receiver from non Atmos/DTS X encoding it tends to be more active because its creating a simulation from a non encoded sound file. Try NOT to be far away from the main speakers, or have a massive vaulted ceilings. If you have vaulted ceilings, its better to hang them on the wall aimed down, and turning the receiver into 'height channel' vs Dolby speakers. Its a speaker set up that directs the speaker into the seating area vs up and down. The receiver will than auto adjust itself.

If one set is good, two sets of these speakers sounds amazing. The sound effects were great watching Mission Impossible Fallout. At the end of the movie during the helicopter chase scene, the chopper blades literally sounded like they was right above my head. Very impressive!
In general, Klipsch makes quality speakers and my entire 9.1 surround sound system, minus the SVS subwoofer, are by Klipsch powered by a Marantz SR7011 AVR. I have these Atmos/height speakers crossover set at 100hz although I’m pretty sure you can set them at 80hz which is Dolby THX standard. Klipsch claims these are full range speakers.
Personally I would only run these as Atmos/height speakers for ambient sounds. I’ve heard some people use them as regular surround speakers but I wouldn’t use them in that capacity. I prefer speakers with a more dynamic frequency range for surround speakers.
I would recommend these to others, they are reasonably priced at $300 as of this review. If you place these in a proper location and calibrate them correctly via your AVR, you’ll get great sound quality out of these speakers.
Two thumbs up.
